Engineering and Robotics deals with the design, construction, operation, and use of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. You will develop an understanding of what engineers do and their methods for solving problems. You will be a designer - responsible for creating various mechanisms and robotic systems. Through your creations, you will help to make jobs safer, easier, and more efficient.
Engineering and Robotics is a year-long elective class. Students are expected to be responsible, self-motivated, flexible, creative and work cooperatively with other team members to design and develop various projects. Teamwork is imperative. Any student who fails to adhere to these expectations will be removed from the class.

Before we can become Engineers we must first understand what it is they do, why they do what they do, and the process in which they solve problems( The Design Process). We will demonstrate our knowlege of this through two different challenges:
Flight and Structures
#1 The Flight Challenge( Project links coming soon)
#2 The Structure Challenge( Project links coming soon)

As we learn about Robotics we will begin our journey working with the VEX IQ Robotic system. Once we have learned how to construct and manueuver these devices we will begin to learn how to code them using the Robot C programing language and software.
VEX IQ Challenges:
Challenge #1: Standard Drive Base Build/Manueverabliity
The Maze ( A timed challenge): Be the fastest team to manuevere your robot through a maze track.
Challenge #2: Claw Bot Build.
Relocation Race ( An efficiency challenge): Be the first team to direct your robot to pick up and relocate numerous objects to a designated area.
Challenge #3: The Stack Challenge
The Stack Challenge( An accuracy challenge): Be the first team to stack 3, and then 4, team cubes in the designated area.
Battle Bots!
Challenge #1: Flip or Dismantled your Opponent
A Random Draw, Single-Elimination Tournament, where your objective is to either flip over, or dismantle, your opponenet within a 3 minute timed period.
Challenge #2: "The Arena of Doom - Pit of Fire!"
A Random Draw, Single-Elimination Tournament, where your objective is to push your opponent into The Arena of Doom's - Pit of Fire!
Challenge #3: Robot Soccer Challenge
An A-Team vs B-Team (2 vs 2) robot soccer match, where your objective is score the most goals within the match time period.
