8th Grade History
2022-2023
NOTE: To view my daily planner and all current and past assignments you will need to log into my Google Classroom page using the student's Google account log-in and password.
Course Description
This course takes an in-depth look at the early history of our country from the initial settlement of the 13 English Colonies, the founding of our nation, the causes and effects of the American Civil War and beyond. It should be the goal of the students not only to excel academically, but that they fully comprehend and master the course content standards.Google Classroom
All assignments for this class, submitted online, will be done through Google Classroom. Classroom ties directly to the student’s district Google account and simplifies the submission of on-line assignments. All documents and links specific to each assignment are available. If logged into the student’s account, parents can see exactly when an assignment was submitted and be able to see their student’s work.
Academic Grade
The students' academic grade will be based upon in-class assignments, homework, quizzes, tests, weekly participation grades, etc. . For the majority of the assignments, the students start working on these in class. Anything not finished in class, becomes homework. All assignments are expected to be turned-in on time. I will accept assignments that are turned-in one day late for half-credit. After that, I will not accept late assignments.
It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with Mr. Rabago if they need additional time to complete an assignment, and ask for help, if needed, to complete their assignments. Plagiarism (copying work from the internet) will result in a zero for that assignment. Instances of students copying work from another student will result in a zero for both students.Participation Grade
The students' participation grade will be based upon their daily involvement in my distance learning classes and Hybrid Learning Classes. This is based upon the students answering questions during in-class discussions, participating in Pear Deck sessions, answering in-class warm-up questions, paying attention, following instructions, etc.
Citizenship Grade
The students will earn a weekly citizenship grade. This is based upon being on-time to class, having the necessary supplies, and having their chromebook charged enough to last for the day. The grade is also based upon following all classroom rules and contributing to a positive and productive class atmosphere.
I am excited to continue to provide an amazing education for your child. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about our distance learning class.
