What is PROTECT?
To address AB1861, AB1227, and Ed Code 51950, the Mental Health District Team will provide professional training to all staff who interact with children regularly. School Counselors and/or Therapists will provide direct instruction to students in grades 7, 8, or high school as determined by the school site. Guidance Lessons based on CVUSD priority standards will include skills to promote students' mental, emotional, and social health and well-being. Direct instruction will also include recognizing the prevalence, nature, and strategies to reduce the risk of human trafficking, techniques to set healthy boundaries, and how to safely seek assistance, as well as promoting a positive school climate that enhances students' feelings of belonging, and connection to the school community.
